About Us

The Antiques Bible was started in March of 2007 by publishers Lawrence R. Bell (Larry) and Anne E. Bell (Anne) as a new venture for their company, Nacq Partners, Ltd., of Georgetown, Texas.

The Bells got started in e-commerce and website sponsorship in 2003, when they inherited his mother's antique porcelain business. Rather than selling the merchandise at a small fraction of its worth via auction or to other dealers, they decided to use Mr. Bell's recent training in e-commerce to open a site to market the china via Antique China Porcelain & Collectibles.

The antique china site soon became successful and the Bells then turned to their love of historical photography and art, opening Digital Picture Printing & Frames in the summer of 2004. This site markets historical images, the works of contemporary photographers, and allows visitors to upload their own images for printing and framing, aided by the useful Online Frame Shop.
Anne & Larry Bell, Publishers
With two active sites and more on the drawing board, the decision was made to form a parent company to contain all businesses of the Bells. The coined name of "Nacq" was adopted in part because it is a short 4-letter domain name, but also because when pronounced, it is a homonym for "knack". The slogan "nacq has the knack" was adopted and Nacq Partners, Ltd. was formed. Nacq has become the gateway website to all of the Bells' businesses.

Neither Anne nor Larry started out with any particular expertise in antiques. The Antiques Bible is their attempt not only to put together a great deal of helpful information about antiques, but also to educate themselves in the process. The Antiques Bible began by creating an illustrated antiques glossary. As the number of defined terms grows, a taxonomy of antiques categories is put in place to give order to this information. This taxonomy or thesaurus, if you will, takes the visitor through the world of antiques by groups and subgroups.
