Pad Foot

“Pad Foot” is a reference to a particular type of foot most commonly found on furniture made during the Queen Anne period or in the style of Queen Anne furniture. It is most notably used on tables and chairs, which have either rounded feet or the legs create an upward curve toward the bottom. Underneath this design is usually a piece of wood, which is generally rounded, that provides a stable support for the furniture. This is what is referred to as the “pad.”

A “pad foot” is considered to be almost the same as a “club foot” design. Both types contain rounded or well-curved legs that end with a wooden disc supporting the piece.
Pad Foot
Pad Foot Most pad foot designs became popular during the Queen Anne period of design, which flourished from approximately 1702 to 1760. The use of the padded foot allowed for thinner and sleeker furniture, while still providing stability and enhancing visual appeal. Pad foot furniture is still made to this day, much of which is created in the Queen Anne or Georgian style.
