Anthemion

Anthemion, from the Greek word for flower, is a combination honeysuckle, lotus, acanthus, or palmette decorative motif inscribed on achitecture, friezes, and later on furniture and silverware. Originally found in ancient Greece, the anthemion motif appeared in the 18th and 19th Centuries throughout western civilization. Anthemion
Anthemion Furniture makers such as George Hepplewhite and Thomas Sheraton carved anthemion design into many of their products. In ancient times, anthemion was restricted to columns, antefixes, and roof fringes.
