Colt 1851 Navy Revolver

The Colt 1851 Navy Revolver was made by the Colt Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company and produced between 1850 and 1873. 215,000 of the guns were made in Hartford, Connecticut and 42,000 were made in London, England--a total of more than a quarter of a million revolvers produced.

The Colt 1851 Navy Revolver measures 14 inches long overall. It is a .36 caliber, 6-shot revolver designed by Samuel Colt. It is the perfect size to be carried in a belt holster.

Despite the "navy" designation in its name, the Colt 1851 Navy was primarily used by land forces and civilians. Only about 650 of the guns were sold to the navy. The "navy" designation comes from a depiction of the victory of the Texas Navy at the Battle of Campeche that appears on the cylinder.
