Longton Hall Porcelain

Longton Hall is soft paste porcelain that was only made around 1750-1760. Created by William Jenkinson, the characteristics of this porcelain are rich blues and opaque whites. The porcelain is very heavy and has a lustrous, glassy finish.

What makes Longton Hall porcelain so unique? The figurines will almost always be half turned to either side. It was produced quickly; however, and therefore there are many errors visible in the production and glazing processes.

Longton Hall Porcelain Most Longton Hall porcelain was never marked. However, the underside of some bears 3 L’s with 3 blue dots. It’s unknown why some were labeled and some were left blank.
Longton Hall porcelain may have been sub-par back in the 1700’s, but because of its short manufacturing life, it is rare and highly sought after by porcelain collectors. It is also extremely expensive.
