The Quezal Art Glass dates to 1902 when The Quezal Art Glass Company was founded. This glass company created beautifully designed, high-end glass artworks such as vases, compotes, finger bowls, open salts, candleholders, and lighting fixtures.
Quezal Art Glass pieces are known for the shimmer and luminosity displayed on both the inside and outside surfaces. The company name and its designs were inspired by the quetzal, a rare bird found in the tropical forests of Central America. Quezal Art Glass is known for its colorful, shimmering exteriors and its brilliant gold or metallic interiors. It’s exteriors are also colorfully decorated with nature-inspired motifs such as feathers, clovers, lilies and holly.

The Quezal Art Glass design was primarily inspired by the Art Nouveau style. However, some designs displayed styles from Egypt, Persia, Greece, Rome, the Italian Renaissance and the Georgian period in England. Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company produced art glass that was considered as beautiful as the high-quality iridescent glass of Louis Comfort Tiffany, its major rival. The Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company ceased production in 1924. Today, Quezal Art Glass is adored for its alluring, iridescent pieces and can be viewed in many prominent museum collections.
